You don’t have to be a UX designer to spot a bad user experience. We’ve all been there: trying to check out on a confusing website, searching endlessly for a simple answer, or rage-clicking a button that refuses to do anything.

The truth is, these UX issues are everywhere. And while they may seem small in the moment, they add up to a bigger problem: lost users, lost trust, and lost revenue. So, let’s call out some of the most common UX mistakes we see—and more importantly, how to fix them.

1. Ignoring Mobile Users

We’re in a mobile-first world, but many sites still treat mobile as an afterthought. Tiny buttons, cut-off content, weird scrolling behavior—we see it all the time. Fix it: Design for mobile first. Test on multiple devices. Make sure your layout, buttons, and navigation are easy to use with thumbs.

2. No Clear Call-to-Action (CTA)

If users land on your site and have to guess what to do next, you’ve lost them. CTAs should be obvious and persuasive, not buried in a wall of text or competing with five other buttons. Fix it: Focus on one primary action per page. Make your CTAs stand out visually. Use clear language like “Get Started” or “Schedule a Demo.”

3. Overcomplicating the Interface

Trying to cram every feature into one page might seem helpful, but it usually just overwhelms users. Cluttered interfaces lead to confusion. Fix it: Embrace simplicity. Prioritize the most important tasks. Use white space to your advantage.

4. Skipping User Research

Designing based on assumptions instead of real user feedback is a fast way to miss the mark. What works for your team may not work for your customers. Fix it: Talk to your users. Watch how they interact with your product. Even a few user interviews or basic usability testing can reveal game-changing insights.

5. Inaccessible Design

If your product isn’t usable by people with disabilities, you’re not just alienating users—you may also be violating legal standards. Accessibility is too often an afterthought. Fix it: Use proper color contrast. Add alt text. Ensure keyboard navigation works. Follow WCAG guidelines.
